LEGEND OF VINICA

That Vinica and the surrounding area are vineyards since ancient times says an interesting legend after which the city of Vinica got its name and is associated with the house built of wine:

Once, a large part of the surroundings of today's Vinica was covered with vines. One year there was a severe drought. The ground cracked, rivers and springs dried up. The cattle began to die from the great drought and heat. In that dry year the vineyards bore fruit as never before. People did not have enough vessels to collect grapes and wine. That year a man from Vinica named Zachary built a house, but there was no water to make mortar, and because he was in a hurry to build the house, he ordered the craftsmen to take the wine barrels from the cellars and mix them with the mortar and thus finish it. the house. The masters drank wine and made mortar with the wine. Other people in the neighborhood started using wine to make mortar in the same way. The news about the making of the mortar with wine quickly spread through the settlement and the whole surrounding area and after that event the settlement was called Vinica.
